Adult Community Service Order

Adults (18+ years of age) are court ordered to participate in a community service program and act under the direction of the Probation Officer as well as St. Leonard's Community Service Order staff.

Contact between all parties of the program and the adult's progress is documented in client files. Organized by phone and/or letter, the first appointment for adults involved in the CSO program is set to discuss:

  • Offence information
  • CSO responsibilities
  • Signing the acknowledgement form
  • Record of Hours in the program (time card)
  • Arrangement of community placement

Community Placements

  • Community Placement Agencies offer on-going recruitment for new placements, regular telephone and personal visits to client placements, and the monthly update of hours.
  • Site Supervisions support and assist with special community events that require CSO clients. Home Projects: clients who face disability challenges, health, transportation or child care concerns are offered a home alternative.

Goals and expectations required from adult's in the CSO programs are followed by regular monthly appointments. These meetings are set to:

  • Update completed hours
  • Discuss any concerns/issues regarding placement
  • Discuss personal issues of the client

NOT completing community service results in a failure to comply charge.

In contrast, a completion summary and client file is sent back to the probation office on behalf of successful individuals.
