Offering a safe home for women who are challenged by mental health, trauma, substance abuse and related concerns while engaged in the criminal justice system was the main goal of St. Leonard's Community Services.
On April 1, 2007 with support from the community, the neighbourhood and other local women's/children's service providers, Maison Louise Arbour opened her doors! The dedication of many individuals materialized this service for the women of need in our community.
Fully trained and qualified staff fosters a trusting and safe environment through:
- One to one counseling
- Support and case planning
- Assistance to develop realistic, achievable goals by using their strengths as guides
This centre named in honour of former Chief Justice Madame Louise Arbour, provides a service for women in conflict with the law which was previously non-existent for over a decade.

Case planning and support ensure that each woman has the opportunity to strive for her personal goals. Support in conjunction with other agencies offering mental health assistance; also add value to the well-rounded program.
