Garden Project

St. Leonard's Community Services London Region's (SLCS) Garden Project is over ten seasons old, offering more than a mechanism for completing Community Service hours. The Garden project cultivates an environment highlighting an alternative lifestyle, allowing a person to get back to nature, while teaching them valuable skills.

In 2002, SLCS gardens harvested over 5,500 pounds of fresh vegetables. All food continues to be donated to the London and Area Food Bank, which allows St Leonard's participants to give back to the community.

The Garden Project's success has grown from the original two plots to five, with hopes of further expansion in future seasons.

The success of the Garden Project is largely attributed to our dedicated partners, who include:

  • Try Recycling
  • City of London Green Lane Environmental
  • Grow-A-Row
  • London Food Bank
  • Home Hardware
  • Thames Region Ecological Association
  • The Composting Council of Canada
  • Keeping It Real
  • Residential Services
  • Youth Services
  • Peer Power Centre
