Housing Finder - HART Hub
SLCS is currently seeking a full-time Housing Finder for the HART Hub. The HART Hub (Homeless and Addiction Recovery Treatment Hub) is a low barrier treatment-oriented space offering supports to individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and who face challenges related to addiction and/or mental health to recover and improve their overall well being. As part of this collaborative and client-centered team, you will work alongside external agencies/community partners, healthcare providers, addiction specialists, and participants working towards reducing barriers, connecting to resources, and supporting access to safe, appropriate, and permanent housing.
This role focuses on meeting participants where they are at, building relationships with participants, determining needs, identifying barriers, conducting housing searches while building and maintaining landlord relationships as well as the creation of a housing stock portfolio. The Housing Finder position requires knowledge of the housing market, strong communication skills, collaboration, problem solving and attention to detail. This role also requires a strong knowledge of Housing First philosophy, with a trauma informed approach and understanding how to have crucial conversations are essential to the position. You will also be responsible for ensuring units meet bylaws and the building code act, assessing cleaning and repairs required in all units and utilization of advocacy skills in initial viewings with landlords on behalf of participants. This position also requires preparing and maintaining statistical data, compiled on an on-going basis to assist in identifying trends and developing strategies to navigate them. This position will work with individuals from diverse populations and cultures and will approach situations from a restorative lens. This position calls for a dynamic, creative professional who can engage landlords strategically, understand housing market trends, employ strong negotiation skills and work collaboratively with community partners to achieve the HART Hub mandate.
This position will be responsible for the safety and security of participants, co-workers and community during employment. In this position, it is essential to work effectively alongside colleagues from other community agencies to assist participants in navigating the HART Hub and London’s housing system as a whole. The successful candidate will have to embrace these differences to strengthen the work being done. This position is split between office and community, and will be expected to regularly travel within the London community.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree or 2 – 3-year College Diploma from an accredited institution or relevant work experience (e.g. social services, real estate, property management, sales, marketing)
- Experience in sales, marketing or real estate is beneficial to the role
- Excellent knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and Housing First Philosophy and the local housing market
- Standard First Aid /CPR with AED – Level C
- Valid G Class Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle
- Candidates who are proficient in both official languages of Canada will be considered an asset
