Social Worker - London Justice Centre
SLCS is currently seeking a Full Time Social Worker to support the London Justice Centre program. This program model supports young adults (18 – 24) who are involved with the justice system to access viable, accountable and meaningful pre-charge or post-charge alternatives in collaboration with Police Services, the Province (Ministry of the Attorney General) and community partners. The Justice Centre is part of Ontario’s Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy and the intent is to connect individuals with multi-sectoral, wrap around interventions, support and services to reduce the risk of re-offending while promoting restorative justice practices.
The Social Worker works closely with the London Justice Centre team, bringing a strong restorative and trauma-informed lens to the delivery of wrap‑around supports for participants. This role provides leadership, guidance, and consultation on case management practices while contributing mental health expertise to staff, participants, and the interdisciplinary team. The Social Worker delivers individual and group counselling and mental health supports, collaborates with participants to develop and implement individualized care plans, and coordinates services with community‑based mental health providers.
The successful candidate will build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and work closely with mental health supports to promote successful participant reintegration. The role includes supporting participants in developing self‑advocacy skills and providing advocacy when required, assisting to develop the skills and resources they need to enhance social functioning, analyzing program data to identify service gaps and opportunities for improvement, and ensuring all documentation meets organizational standards of care. The Social Worker brings experience working with diverse, marginalized, and vulnerable populations and contributes to program development, evaluation, and reporting, including monthly statistics and program summaries.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters of Social Work (MSW) from a recognized institution and currently registered with the Ontario College of Social Work
- 3-5 years’ experience in corrections, justice, social services, or community-based roles
- Experience supporting marginalized or vulnerable populations, including individuals involved with the justice system, those experiencing homelessness, and individuals facing mental health or addiction challenges is considered an asset.
- Standard First Aid/CPR – Level C
- Valid G2 or G Class Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle
- Candidates who are proficient in both official languages of Canada will be considered an asset
