Give Warmth. Give Hope. Give Today.

Help Bring Warmth Within Reach

For someone without a place to live, staying warm and dry can be a daily challenge. Cold nights, wet socks and limited protection from the weather can make everyday life more difficult.

The figures in City of London’s Homelessness Dashboard show the scale of the need:

  • 4,124 unique people were recorded on the HIFIS (Homeless Individuals and Families Information System) By-Name List from January through September 2026.
  • 2,078 people were recorded as actively experiencing homelessness in the September 2026 snapshot.
  • 132 people were recorded as experiencing homelessness for the first time in September 2026.

These figures reflect people known to the service system, rather than everyone experiencing homelessness. They include people in different housing circumstances—not only those sleeping outside.

A Winter Warmth Kit helps someone stay warm, dry and better protected during dangerously cold weather. Along with the essentials comes a simple message: You are seen. You are valued. You are part of our community.

Two Ways to Give Warmth

1. Build a Winter Warmth Kit (approximately $50)

Gather the items below, pack them in an XL-zip lock bag, and add a note of kindness.  You can build a kit yourself or bring together friends, family, classmates, or coworkers!

2.  Donate Funds and We’ll Build One For You

Your financial gift helps SLCS purchase supplies and assemble Winter Warmth Kits. Any gift, no matter the size, helps keep people warm.

Build a Kit. Share Some Warmth.

What Goes In A Kit?

Pack the following items in an XL-zip lock bag:

☐ Winter hat ☐ Emergency blanket
☐ Thermal mitts ☐ Lip balm
☐ Scarf ☐ Small first aid kit
☐ Four hot packs ☐ $5 Tim Hortons card
☐ Water poncho ☐ Individually packed snacks
☐ Two pairs of thermal socks ☐ Bottle of water

Each Winter Warmth Kit costs approximately $50 to build. New or gently used items in clean, good condition are welcome. Food, lip balm and first aid supplies should be new and unopened.

1. Gather the essentials

Use the checklist above to collect the items for your Winter Warmth Kit. Each kit costs approximately $50 to build. Shopping together or dividing the list among friends and coworkers is an easy way to share the cost and spread some warmth.

2. Pack some warmth

Place the items in an XL zip-lock bag to create your kit.

3. Add a note of kindness

A few words can mean so much. Write your own caring message, or use one of these:

  • “You matter. We hope this kit brings you warmth and comfort, and reminds you that people in your community care about you.”
  • “You are part of our community. We’re thinking of you and sending a little warmth your way.”
  • “A few essentials, packed with a lot of care. We hope they make the cold days a little more comfortable. You matter to us.”

4. Keep the kindness going

Want to make another? Invite friends, family, or coworkers to build kits with you. Schools, workplaces and community groups can participate together—every kit brings us closer to our goal.

5. Arrange your drop-off
